Slate makes images and text move with ease for anyone, no design or programming skills required. Since the tool supplies a number of effects and transitional elements the stories created using Slate are housed on an Adobe site. This also means that an active Adobe account is required.

Slate offers a number of possibilities to rethink the nature of presenting student work. It easily incorporates images with text to illustrate the topic being developed. From more obvious choices like photo essays or e-portfolios to more creative approaches to essays or lab reports, there are a number of possibilities for creating more dynamic and visually appealing work. It can be a great entry point for exploring digital storytelling.
Additionally, Adobe supports the use of its products through their Adobe Education Exchange. There are pages devoted to each individual application that includes tutorials, lesson plans, community discussions, and resources for educators. Despite being a relatively new application, a significant contribution of material is available on the Slate Education Exchange.
Using Adobe Slate is an easy way to experiment with new digital storytelling possibilities for existing assignments, but can also open the possibilities to assignments not yet considered. It is a tool well worth trying and can lead to more sophisticated applications and tasks.
