Teacher Leaders

We have had a number of teachers in our district joining the first cohort of EdTechTeamOnline where they are learning how to embrace emerging technology and read/discuss current research about best practices.  The topics include:

Global Collaboration and Community

Project Based Learning

Flipped Learning

Visual Literacy

Assessment

Redesigning the Learning Space

As we are collaborating with the other 100+ community members this semester, I find that in Hopkinton we are well equipped with teachers that are well-developed in many of these areas. I love to see the Project Based Learning with Breakout EDU in the High School and Middle School. They have been taking their content and having students research and find answers to unlock the breakoutedu box. The students love this!

We have Maryfrances K. and Jane S. presenting about Student Agency in the upcoming building meeting.  Student Agency is a focus on helping student find, organize , and use information to create, collaborate and share in ways that are meaningful to them-and to others in the outside world. Our teachers are very excited to make this a focus for our staff.

We have heard a lot of great feedback about the cohort and online experience. The teachers get to interact with other teachers in the world, see how other schools are using these tools and they also get 6 credit hours for doing it! What a great experience we have had. It was also a lot of fun meeting other cohort friends at conferences we attend.

Here are some resources about Project Based Learning if you are interested in effectively implementing it in your classroom.
